Weekly Bible Reading January 18 - January 23 PDF Print
MONDAY: Exodus 33, John 15:12-17, James 2:23
KEY VERSE: Exodus 33:11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.

TO THINK ABOUT: The scripture is clear that we are God’s friend. As you read Exodus 33 and John 15 and as you understand other scripture that you have read, are there conditions and limits on that friendship? What are they? Be specific.

TUESDAY: Exodus 33, John 15:12-17, James 2:23
KEY VERSE: John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends...

TO THINK ABOUT: As you read John 15 what must we do to become Jesus’ friend? What are the benefits of that friendship? Make a list from John 15. What must we do to get that friendship that is not listed here? What benefits of that friendship are not listed
here?

WEDNESDAY: James 2
KEY VERSE: James 2:23 Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God's friend.

TO THINK ABOUT: Read the 2nd chapter of James. What is he saying? Sum it up in a paragraph. Can you put what James writes into one sentence? How do James’ thoughts relate to friendship?

THURSDAY: James 2
KEY VERSE: James 2:23 Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God's friend.

TO THINK ABOUT: Read James 2 again. How does what James says here relate to your friendship with God? What do you need to change?

FRIDAY: Exodus 33, John 15:12-17, James 2:23
KEY VERSE: Exodus 33:11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.

TO THINK ABOUT: Building on what we did yesterday, after studying friendship with God this week, take a personal God friendship inventory. How are you doing?

SATURDAY: Exodus 33:12-33, Exodus 3, John 8:54-58, Judges 13
KEY VERSE: Exodus 33:19-20 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."

TO THINK ABOUT: In Exodus 33 God says we cannot live if we see him. Who did Moses see in Exodus 33? How does that relate to John 8 and Judges 13?
