Weekly Bible Reading January 25 - January 30 |

MONDAY: Matthew 16:15, John 4:39-42 KEY VERSE: Matthew 16:15 But what about you? Who do YOU say I am?
TO THINK ABOUT: Before someone can follow Christ they must first know who he is. Who do you say Jesus is? How do you prove to a non-believer that Jesus — as John 4 says — is the savior of the world? What if they don’t believe the bible is true? If you don’t know, how can find that answer?
TUESDAY: Matthew 16:15, Matthew 6:33, John 3:16-17, John 8:12, Mark 2 KEY VERSE: John 8:12 I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.
TO THINK ABOUT: Define “walking in darkness.” How do you explain this verse in John to non-believers? What hope does your life give someone that doesn’t know Christ?
WEDNESDAY: Mark 2, John 3:16-17, John 8:12 KEY VERSE: Mark 2:14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
TO THINK ABOUT: Think about this for a long time. Take some notes. When you’re ready define following Jesus. Example: list changes one must make, changes he makes in you, etc. Be specific and detailed.
THURSDAY: Matthew 10:32-42, Galatians 2:19-21 KEY VERSE: Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
TO THINK ABOUT: The verses in Matthew are difficult. Read them carefully. What is Jesus really saying? Be specific.
FRIDAY: Mark 10:17-30, Matthew 10:32-42 KEY VERSE: Mark 10:21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
TO THINK ABOUT: To follow Jesus do we really have to sell everything and give the proceeds to the poor? Is that what this really means? If not, what is Jesus really saying? How do you explain what Jesus wants of the non-believer? What does Jesus want from you?
SATURDAY: 2 Peter 3:9, John 15:16, Romans 8:29-30 KEY VERSE: 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
TO THINK ABOUT: How do you reconcile these different passages? Does God want everyone saved or not?
