Weekly Bible Reading February 22 - February 27 PDF Print
Monday: 1Samuel 24, Philippians 4:6-7, James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5-6
Key Verse: 1 Samuel 24:4 The men said, This is the day the LORD spoke of when he said to you, I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.

To Think About: Tension is designed by God to help us with decisions. How do we use the prayer tools from these verses and others to help us with our decisions? And when we reach a decision, how do we know it is the right one? Be specific.

Tuesday:1 Samuel 24, Matthew 16:21-28, Philippians 4:6-7, James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5-6
Key Verse:Matthew 16:22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"

To Think About: Examine the action of David’s men and compare it to Peter’s rebuke of Jesus in Matthew. The action of the men seems right. The rebuke from Peter — from his point of view, also seems right. Why do Jesus and David know differently?

Wednesday: Matthew 16:13-28, 26:47-56, John 18:10
Key Verse: Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

To Think About: Peter knows Jesusʼ leadership is divine. Yet when Jesus talks about dying on the cross, Peter reacts emotionally and says “no.” What should Peter have done with the news of verse 21? Looking deeper into Matthew and into John, did Peter ever understand? Why not? What does this teach you?

Friday: Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:6-7, James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 25
Key Verse:Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

To Think About: Tension helps you make decisions one way or the other. How do these verses help you make the right decision? Be specific.

Friday: 1 Samuel 24
Key Verse: 1 Samuel 24:4 The men said, "This is the day the LORD spoke of when he said to you, 'I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.' "

To Think About: List the steps David took to resolve his conflict with Saul? What lessons do you learn from them in conflicts you have in your own life? What did David do? What did Saul do? What were their final actions? Were the final actions negative?

Saturday: 1 Samuel 24
Key Verse: 1 Samuel 24:4 The men said, "This is the day the LORD spoke of when he said to you, 'I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.' "

To Think About: What would have happened if David did kill Saul? Did God really give him that option? Is that what verse 4 means?
